FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Can I wash my knits?
If your entire piece needs to be washed DO NOT put in the washing machine! DO NOT get hat pom poms wet. The best way to treat your knits is to spot wash with cold or lukewarm water and a gentle detergent (or wool wash). Hand wash the entire knit base, not the pom pom, only in cold water with a gentle detergent (or wool wash). Squeeze excess water out (do not rub the wool together) and lay flat to dry. Over time, your piece may stretch. If this happens, wash the piece with the instructions above and it should take back its original shape.
  • Can I return my knits?
Due to the handmade nature of these items, returns are not accepted. However, we do our absolute best to accommodate every shape, size and style. If you have a specific concern or issue with your piece, it is best to reach out to shaygittleman@gmail.com to resolve.
  • Do you sell Hat and Mitten sets?
Yes! You can find your Hat or Mitten match based on the pattern name. Example: Virginia Hat is the same pattern as Virginia Mittens. Please note, not all patterns have a corresponding partner.
  • Can I place a custom order?
Yes! All custom inquires must be submitted to shaygittleman@gmail.com. We do our best to accommodate every custom order however due to certain factors such as product availability and seasonal demand we cannot guarantee custom orders.
  • How do these knits fit?
Each style has a description in the listing of its particular fit. Your wool piece may feel a little snug on the first few wears. Please keep in mind that wool stretches over time and will eventually have a more relaxed feel after multiple wears. If your piece becomes too stretched out, refer to the washing FAQ.
  • What is Merino Wool, is it itchy and is it sustainable?
It is my mission to always maintain sustainability and humane sourcing of products without sacrificing the quality and luxury of these knits. Merino wool is a natural fiber from the Merino sheep. The wool is hand-dyed in small batches. Unlike Peruvian wool, Merino wool is incredibly soft, warm and light making it perfect for sensitive skin. Our wool comes from a predominantly female-employed family yarn company. They use minimal chemicals and an energy saving dyeing process by reducing the amount of water used by systematizing the order of dyeing. This wool is humanely produced and the sheep that provide this wool are free-range.
